The city is the container of collective memory. In China, as the real estate development, numbers of similar apartment is expanding in the city with the damage of urban original tissue and traditional neighborhood. As a result, the senior citizen lost the source of their memory. And the young generation missed a part of city history. The difference increased the communication gap between the family member. Now, the old apartment needs to be renovated to meet the resident’s living requirements. Following that, a manifesto about rebuilding the memory is beginning.
“A WUHAN MEMOIR” is a debate about urban memory and urban development. It is hard to stop this indifferent economy processing, But what attitude should be built for the human’s memory or the sense of belonging? How can the people recognize where he or she comes from if the city is completely changed and nothing old left? The design is nothing about new, but the mirror of history.

Space belongs to all the resident who lives in this apartment. Different types of furniture and installation would be put in different areas to define the space function.
As the furniture changing, these public areas could be used to multi-purpose.
